Chandler Police Officers Supported by Community

This is a consistent sentiment reflective of the citizens of Chandler and the correspondence forwarded to Chandler City Council.  This was one of the emails sent to CLEA and copies of the emails sent by those who support public safety.

“We want you to know that we support your efforts. We were motivated to email the city council because of the flier we found on our front door yesterday…GOOD LUCK!”

> Dear Mayor and City Council Members,

> As residents of Chandler, we are writing to you to express or dismay over the city budget cuts which are adversely affecting the  members of the Chandler Police Department.  Among other things,our Police force is suffering from inadequate salary, increased health care premiums and reductions in the number of on call detectives. Surely the morale of these brave men and women has been undermined by the above.

> One of the reasons we moved to Chandler nine years ago was the excellent reputation of Chandler Police officers.  We have been consistently impressed with the professional demeanor of Chandler Police officers on the occasions we have interacted with them.  They are a reassuring presence in our :::::::::::::: neighborhood.

> We ask you to reevaluate the city budget and find ways to accommodate our officers reasonable requests. They are an integral  part of the fabric that makes Chandler a wonderful city in which to live.

> Sincerely,

> Tim & Veronica :::::::::::::::

Dear Council Members,

I am writing to you as the proud wife of a Chandler police officer and a mother of eight wonderful kids. I am alarmed to hear that merit increases promised to my husband and his fellow officers should be part of any discussion aimed at reducing costs. I understand that our cost for health insurance will be increasing in January which will impact our already burdened family budget, so you can understand the importance of receiving the wage that was promised.

My husband leaves our home to go to work each day honoring his promise to give nothing less than his life to protect and serve the citizens of Chandler. He does this proudly and I send him off praying for his safety. It appalls me that the city could break its promise to him. I have to imagine that if the citizens of Chandler were made aware of the types of projects that have taken precedence over the compensation of their officers they would be outraged and ashamed.

I ask that you make your budget cuts in areas where the well being of the families of those serving  the city don’t hang in the balance. Please don’t ask these dedicated officers to serve under a broken promise.

Thank you,

Susan
